Hi there I'm Suzi. I own and run my pottery studio in Newquay, Cornwall. My work is inspired by the colours and textures of the everchanging Cornish coastline, I use this pallet to create glazes that bring my pieces to life. My work is designed to be both beautiful and functional, with a focus on craftsmanship and quality. My aim is that you love your pottery and grow to treasure each piece.
After discovering a passion for working with clay, I made the big decision to close the doors of my wedding cake business that I'd run for 12 years and fully focus on ceramics. I wanted to get a deeper understanding of my material and practice so I threw myself right in at the deep-end and began a BA (Hons) degree studying 3D design craft & ceramics at Arts University Plymouth and I proudly graduated with a first-class Honours in 2022. Since graduating I have been experimenting with different ideas, seeing how they translate to clay, and developing my practice.
I love the whole design process, from the first sketch to troubleshooting the designs, and seeing it all through to completion. I especially love the challenge of repetitive throwing it can be quite a meditative process and achieving the precision of making work to the same height and size as the previous piece is very rewarding.
