All about Klayhouse Studio

Hi, I’m Suzi. Welcome to Klayhouse, my little pottery shop located in the heart of Newquay. I’m lucky enough to have a view of the ocean while I work, and it’s impossible not to be inspired by it. The colours of the sea, the changing skies, and the rugged Cornish coastline all find their way into my glazes and designs.


I make pottery to be used and loved every day, pieces that feel good in your hands, last for years, and hopefully become favourites in your home. More than anything, I want you to enjoy them as much as I enjoy making them for you.

After taking an evening pottery class, I completely fell in love with the craft. So much so that I made the bold decision to close my wedding cake business, something I’d successfully run for 12 years, and head to university to study ceramics full-time. Having not been in education since the age of 16, this was quite daunting, but I threw myself in at the deep end, enrolling on a BA (Hons) degree in 3D Design Crafts & Ceramics at Arts University Plymouth. In 2022, I proudly graduated with First-Class Honours. Following graduation, I founded Klayhouse Studio, where I continue to grow as a maker. I’ve deepened my knowledge through courses at Leach Pottery and various glaze workshops, always striving to refine both my skills and creative voice.

There’s something truly meditative about working on the wheel—repeating forms, refining shapes, and watching a row of mugs or bowls slowly take shape. Getting each piece to match the last in height and proportion is challenging, but incredibly rewarding.


I set up Klayhouse Studio in Newquay, Cornwall, to share this passion with others. My shop is my favourite place to be, and I love meeting visitors, talking about clay, and sharing a little bit of the process behind each piece. And if you can’t make it to Cornwall, my online shop is open 24/7 and full of handmade pottery designed to be treasured, used, and enjoyed every day.
